At Livery, we’re always expanding the ways our customers can create fun, competitive, and engaging live experiences. Scoring models are at the heart of that, they’re the mechanics that make participation rewarding and gameplay exciting.
Until now, Livery supported scoring models such as:
- Fixed Points: Participants earn a set number of points for every correct answer or prediction.
- Time-Based Scoring: Points are awarded based on how quickly a participant responds, the faster, the better!
These scoring models can be combined with a wide range of interactions that Livery provides out of the box, including trivia, prediction, estimation, and our latest addition word guessing. With word guessing, players can manually type an answer and earn points based on accuracy, enabling classic game styles like Jeopardy! or Family Feud.
A New Era of Gameplay: Odds and Betting
We’re thrilled to introduce Odds and Betting: two brand-new scoring models that bring statistical strategy and high-stakes excitement to your live interactive streams. Our betting model uses only points or virtual coins and no real money is involved.
Odds
With Odds, you can assign different point values to answers based on their likelihood. This makes predictions and outcomes more dynamic, players earn more points when they correctly choose less probable answers. It’s perfect for games or live events where not all answers are equally likely to be correct.
Betting
Betting takes engagement to the next level by allowing participants to wager their accumulated points on their chosen answers. Players can play it safe or risk it all, the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward.
Betting adds a new layer of strategy to Livery’s gameplay mechanics. Previously, players would simply accumulate points over time by answering questions correctly. Now, they can decide when to risk those points for a potential big win. Betting can even be combined with Odds, multiplying the potential payout based on the chosen answer’s odds.
Imagine a sports stream: you’re sure Messi will score a penalty, you bet all your points on it. If you’re right, you soar to the top of the leaderboard. If not, you lose your points and may need to rebuild your score through bonus trivia rounds or sponsored questions.
Flexible Game Configurations
Livery’s new betting system is highly configurable:
- You can define the number of starting points for each or all players.
- Players who lose all their points can regain them through additional questions or bonus interactions.
- Betting can seamlessly integrate with existing scoring models for a balanced and flexible gameplay experience
New APIs for Custom Integration
Alongside these new mechanics, we’ve released two new APIs:
- Set Player Points: Define or update the number of points for a specific player.
- Retrieve Player Points: Access a player’s final score at the end of the game.
These APIs make it easy to connect Livery’s point system with your own loyalty or wallet systems. You can even customize your in-game currency, upload an SVG icon and rename “points” to anything you like, such as coins, stars, or diamonds.
What’s Next: Totes
We’re not stopping here. In our next release, we’ll introduce Totes, a pooled betting mechanic where players contribute points to a shared pot. That pot will then be split among everyone who guessed correctly, bringing an entirely new level of tension and excitement to the Livery experience.
