Livery AI Captions & Translations

Livery’s AI Captions and Translations feature brings a new level of accessibility and multilingual engagement to interactive live streams. Unlike traditional streaming platforms that embed subtitles into the video metadata, Livery uses a unique, separate real-time data connection to deliver captions and translations instantly, without affecting stream performance or latency.

With Livery, your audience receives accurate, AI-powered captions within seconds, ensuring your content remains inclusive, interactive, and globally accessible.

Stream simultaneously on both your own plaform and social video platforms

Traditional subtitle workflows wait for the captions and translation to be finished before they can be added to the video source in the encoding pipeline. Livery takes a completely different approach.

Each Livery video player maintains a dedicated real-time data channel alongside the video stream. This allows subtitles and translations to be delivered instantly, independent from the video itself.

That means:

  • No encoding delays.
  • Livery leverages the 3-second delay to produce precise captions in real time; extending the delay gives AI models more time for enhanced accuracy.
  • High-quality AI captions generated on the fly using industry-leading providers.

Plugin-based flexibility

Through the Livery Plugin Section, customers can enable and configure different caption and translation plugins:

  • Speechmatics and Rev AI: Generate real-time captions in over 50 input languages. Configure input language, add custom vocabularies, and fine-tune optional caption delay.
  • Amazon Translate: Instantly translate generated captions into 130+ languages, making your live streams accessible to global audiences.

The plugins can be combined seamlessly. For example, captions can be generated by Speechmatics and translated instantly by Amazon Translate, all in real time.

Interactive and customizable

Captions and translations are displayed through Livery’s interactive layer, which means they can be integrated with or without other interactive elements such as polls, calls-to-action, or any other overlay.

Viewers can:

  • Choose their preferred language,
  • Adjust font size for readability,
  • And enjoy captions through Livery’s player or compatible third-party players, such as Dolby Live.

Benefits

  • Global Reach: Translate captions into over 130 languages to engage viewers worldwide.
  • Accessibility: Make your live streams inclusive for audiences with hearing impairments.
  • Ultra-Low Latency: Maintain a 3-second glass-to-glass delay while generating captions in real time.
  • Configurable Plugins: Choose the best captioning engine, language, and delay for your use case.
  • Interactive Integration: Combine captions with polls, reactions, and other interactive features.
  • Third-Party Support: Use Livery captions across your existing streaming infrastructure, including Dolby environments.

Security & Privacy

At Livery, data protection and user trust are top priorities. Every component of our AI caption and translation pipeline follows strict security and compliance standards.
Provider safeguards

  • Speechmatics: Certified for ISO/IEC 27001:2022, SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, and GDPR alignment. For real-time transcription, no data is stored during processing. For batch transcription, data is automatically deleted after processing (default 24 hours, configurable). More details: Speechmatics Security
  • Amazon Translate: Built under the AWS shared responsibility model with robust encryption and compliance certifications (ISO 27001, SOC 1/2/3, GDPR).
By default, AWS AI services may store and use data for service improvement. Livery enforces the AWS “AI Services Opt-Out” policy at the organization level, ensuring that your audio, captions, and translations are never used for model training. Learn more: AWS Data Protection

Livery’s internal protections

  • Tenant isolation and dedicated clusters ensure data segregation between customers.
  • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and role-based access safeguard user accounts.
  • Data minimization and retention control, only the data necessary for your broadcast is processed and stored.
  • Optional region-based processing (US or EU) to align with local data residency requirements.
  • No model training or reuse, Livery never uses customer data to train or improve any models.

Together, these measures provide a secure, compliant, and transparent framework for live AI captioning and translation.

What’s Next: Real-Time Captions for Hybrid Events

The next exciting step for Livery’s AI caption and translation technology is real-time support for hybrid events.

Soon, organizers will be able to use Livery’s Live Boards to display live captions and translations onsite, during conferences, product launches, and other hybrid gatherings.

Imagine a live conversation on stage being:

  • Captured by Livery,
  • Transcribed and translated in real time,
  • Displayed on additional screens beside the stage,
  • And streamed simultaneously to online audiences around the world.

This feature will bridge the gap between physical and digital attendees, creating a truly unified, multilingual event experience.

Whether viewers are in the venue or joining remotely, everyone will understand and engage in real time.

Summary

Livery’s AI Captions and Translations redefine what’s possible in live streaming, offering accessibility, inclusivity, and global engagement without compromising speed or security. With real-time captions, translations, and upcoming hybrid event integrations, Livery empowers creators, broadcasters, and enterprises to make every stream truly borderles
