Back-end Developer

We are looking for a senior back end developer to support the Livery team in developing a best-in-class interactive low-latency live streaming platform. In collaboration with the back end team, you will develop new video, player, and interactive features to deliver seamless live video experiences to millions of users at a time.

What you'll be working on

As a senior back-end developer, you will take the lead in designing and developing Livery’s back end, which needs to support high-volume, low-latency products while delivering high-availability and high-performance solutions. Your work will ensure that our video team and interactive team can build on top of a reliable solution that is structured, scalable, and well documented. In addition to the ongoing development of our scalable server platform, you will be working on custom projects and implementations for our major customers.

Develop low-level Javascript for the Livery player
Define the player roadmap and new features
Use your JavaScript development skills for custom client projects
Manage and train junior developers and new hires

Your experience

5+ years of professional software development experience
Profound knowledge of modern front-end techniques with a healthy interest in back-end technology (based on AWS and Akamai)
- In-depth understanding of TypeScript, LitElement, and modern tooling like ESLint, Prettier, Karma, Rollup, and Babel
- Ability to work with CircleCI, semantic-release, and AWS Amplify
- Appreciation for collaboration, communication, and sharing knowledge
- Ability to work well in a team setting with a passion for achieving common goals & objectives
- Comfortable making precise and informed technical decisions autonomously to plan and accomplish individual and team goals/objectives
- Ability to transfer experience and knowledge to junior team members
- Excellent analytical skills with a passion for learning and constantly exploring new and innovative solutions
- Proficient in spoken and written English

About livery

Livery is bringing forth the next generation of livestreaming. We take traditional live video streams and bring them to life with customizable interactive widgets, allowing the audience to “play along” with the live video stream. Our proprietary software creates a transparent layer that displays interactive widgets on top of the livestream, and our clients (the livestream hosts) can customize when, where, and how these widgets appear to their audience.
